New and Newsworthy…

We are off to a great start! The students are settling in quickly to new routines and friendships are being forged. As I visit classrooms, it is hard to pick out the students who have been here forever and those who have newly arrived. My favorite kid quote of the week came from a kindergartner who, as he was leaving the playground, thanked me for inviting him and said that he had decided to come back next week.

I wanted to share with you some of the new and newsworthy things that are happening at school this year.

Auction Donation Committee Meeting, Wednesday September 8 at 1pm

The Fall 2010 Haynes Auction will be held on Saturday, November 13th. This is our largest fundraiser of the year and we need as many volunteers as possible. For those interested in helping us raise donations and/or gain corporate sponsors, please come to our meeting on Wednesday, September 8th at 1:00 p.m. at Michelle Petronio's house (66 Mary Catherine Lane). School Picture Day - Tuesday, September 14th

The Robbs Photography will be photographing students outdoors at Haynes this year on Tuesday, September 14th.  The rain date is Tuesday, September 21st.  Order envelopes will be sent home in backpacks this week and are due back to your child's classroom on or before the photo day.  The Robbs offer a $4 discount for families who have more than one child attending Haynes - first child pays the full price and siblings may take the $4 discount.  Please check their website for additional information:  www.robbportraits.com.

Please come for coffee and conversation on Monday, September 13th at 9:30AM.  New families will learn all about the Haynes school from Principal Swain, H.O.P. representatives and others from the Haynes community.

 

Save The Date For The Haynes Fall Auction

Please Save the Date for the Haynes Fifth Annual Auction and Dinner. The auction will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. at Wedgewood Pines Country Club. This fun night features dinner, dancing and cocktails with a live and silent auction. All proceeds will benefit Haynes Organization of Parents (HOP). HOP supports the educational programs and activities which aid and supplement the curriculum of the Haynes School. Formal invitations will be mailed out at a later date.

Volunteers Needed for School Picture Day

In order for photo day to be a success, we need 8 volunteers to assist the photographer.  The time committment is from 8:45am to 1:00pm on Tuesday, September 14th.  Please click here to reach the on-line sign-up and job descriptions.  As thanks for their time, volunteers will receive a free medium sized portrait package compliments of the Robbs.

Hayneswear 2010 Kickoff!

Hayneswear is here!  Check out the display case in the front lobby for our new Hayneswear items. The kids will get a first hand glance with a fashion show on Sept 13 and parents/guardians can see samples and sizes at Back to School Night Sept 16(look for our table just across from the cafe).  It is a whole new look with fashionable colors including the ever popular flannel "jamies" in four colors, hoodies in both pullover style and zip available in three different colors and tie-dye tees in pink and blue.  All coordinating to make a must have outfit.  Also available are backpack sacks, duffel bags to carry your snow pants and boots or extra items to school in and flannel blankets for those chilly sporting events. Both the duffel and blanket have the option to pick your own embroidery logo (Haynes 01776 or Sudbury 01776).  Orders forms will be available at Back to School Night and also online next week at www.haynespto.org.  All proceeds from Hayneswear support the Haynes School and HOP.

 

Reaching New Heights

September 2010 is the start of a new Physical Education curriculum at Haynes. After a year of research, seeking grants and support from a number of individuals and organizations within the community, we now have a traversing climbing wall. Everlast Climbing was in the gymnasium installing our 20' x 8' climbing wall to be used exclusively in our PE classes.

Haynes Organization of Parents

HOP is Haynes Organization of Parents.

It is a non-profit organization which is open to all parents and/or guardians of children attending Josiah Haynes School. Its purpose is to interact with the teachers, professional staff, administration and authorities of the Haynes School to support the educational programs and present programs and activities which aid and supplement the curriculum of Haynes School. HOP raises money to enable all activities of the organization.
