On April 14th, 3rd graders attended the Eyes on Owls program. Students learned cool facts about owls from wildlife photographer Mark and his photo slideshow. Beautiful pictures displayed owls hunting, flying, and camouflaging. The kids got a “hooting lesson” and practiced various owl communications out loud.
Owl expert Marcia held live Eastern Screech Owls, Barred Owl, Barn Owl, Great Horned Owl, and an Eurasian Eagle Owl - some of which live right in our backyards! Students loved being feet away from the birds and asking thoughtful questions.

Thank you to Rhaina Borthwick, Kristen Corcoran, and Courtney Distefano for leading 1st Grade's Animal Adaptation Day on April 30!
We had a fun time creating different habitats, moving like some of our favorite animals, and even had some cool creatures came into the classroom - baby alligator, a huge snake, tortoise, chinchilla, and more. Thank you, parent volunteers, for making this a morning to remember.

Thank you to Sarah Connors, Tara Schepens, and Emily Ziemba for leading 2nd grade's Plantopia on May 6! 2nd grade had a great time learning and exploring all things plants with their buds.
Students learned about cool plant-based science and phenomenons, planted, performed experiments, learned about what's growing in the Haynes garden, and much more.
Special thank you to Al Miller and Rhaina Borthwick of the Haynes Garden Committee for their awesome seed germination presentation - the kids loved it.
Thank you to all of the parent volunteers who made this morning possible... especially those whose stations were held outside in the rain!
